Lamp progress

This weekend included hosting some of Fiona's dad's mediators; and catching up with a good friend - so not a lot of time for creative pursuits. I did put in a few hours progressing the two big lamps including:

Sanding and polishing the vintage car head light and adding the thread to hold the light fittings  ...

Cutting the pieces of brass that will make up the triangular top plate that will hold the lamp (did I mention the lamp will be on a fixed tripod?) ...

©2016 Barry Smith - Two brass tripod forms cut from a heavy gauge  old brass tray- ready for drilling centre holds and folding etc
Cutting and drilling the pieces that will hold the three legs of the tripod steady ...

Many of the bits are almost ready for assembling ...

And the timber legs of the tripods are cut ready for sanding and oiling ...

Still a way to go yet; but they should be finished by the end of the week.

  2. Honestly ... I try to imagine in my mind how these things transform under your hands' patient pressures. But hey presto, they shape shift like magic, the camera giving glimpses of all it took to get them from there to here. Thank you for that ...
